Borovnice is in Trutnov District, in the foothill uplands of the Krkonoše Mountains. The village lies between Nová Paka and Hostinné. The first written mention of the village dates from 1382.

A Baroque church dedicated to St Vitus stands in Borovnice. It was built in 1720–1722.
